How to Make House Cleaning In Highbury Fun for the Entire Family - Including the Kids
Published on Thursday, 19 February 2015

If you are like the vast majority of the people out there, house cleaning is not your most entertaining activity. In fact, most people in Highbury dread the moment they have to go through their domestic cleaning – but are also very much aware of the fact that home cleaning is absolutely necessary for them to live in a healthy environment.

When the cleaning time comes, make sure you involve the entire family in it – and this includes, of course, the younger members of the family too. While the kids may not be able to perform very difficult tasks (such as the oven cleaning for example), they can be extremely helpful. Even more than that, tasking your children with various house chores in your home in Highbury, N5 will teach them about the importance of responsibility.

How can you make the entire house cleaning process more entertaining for the little ones though? Since we know spring cleaning is around the corner, we have gathered some really helpful tips on this so make sure to read on and find out more:

•    Play “butlers and maids”. Dress up as butlers and maids and pretend that you are cleaning up after the children who are living in that home in N1. For the little ones, this will be fun and they will enjoy clean up time much more than if you simply tasked them to play.

•    Play “spies”. Your kids are the “spies” or the “scavenger hunters” and they have to take on important “missions” such as picking up certain types of toys (for instance, picking up all the dolls). To give them more tasks, make it sounds like each of them is part of a bigger plan (for example, tell them that the first part of the mission is to place all the dirty laundry in their bin, the second part of their mission is to take the clean clothes to their room and the second part of their mission is to pick up toys and place them in their special box.

•    Make cleaning tools fun for the little ones. There are many things you can do to regular cleaning tools so that they are more attractive for the children. For instance, you can make an animal-shaped duster or you can leave your kids use only the smaller items. You can even create a special caddy for the little ones as well and you can allow kids that are above 3-4 years old to use a hand-sized vacuum as well.

•    Make everything a competition. If you have more than one kid, you can create a special competition game for cleaning up in the home in the N5 area. For instance, you could tell them that whoever picks up the most toys wins. Also, you could launch special challenges such as “whoever picks up the most red toys is the winner”. If you only have one kid, you can simply challenge him to compete against time (“let’s see if you can pick up all of your toys in under five minutes”, for example). If you want to, you can compete against the children yourself as well and you can make it appear as if you “hope” they “don’t win” (“oh, no, I really hope they don’t get to pick up all of their toys before I get my laundry done!!!”).

•    Whatever “game” you choose to play with your kids when cleaning up in Highbury, make sure you reward the little ones as well. Even if it’s a competition that you/they engage in, always make sure that each of them “wins” something (for instance, you could give the larger  “prize” to the kid who picks up the most toys, but you can reward the other kid as well).
