Bamboo floors can be quite a beautiful but you'd have to take note how you can maintain that beauty before installing one. Compared to other wooden floors, bamboo is more prone to scratches. So if you want bamboo flooring for its beauty you really need to follow certain techniques.
If you want to play it safe, you could simply ask everyone entering the house to remove their footwear. This will minimize the dust that comes into the house. It could also minimize the chances of scratches due to small stones and dirt particles that are stuck on the soles of shoes. If you don't want to do this, you can at least put some mats at the doorway so people can clean their shoes before entering.
Scratches can also be caused when moving furniture. That is why you should be extra careful always. To be sure you should put some pads on the feet of the furniture. Rollers may also help prevent scratches.
Dust is another problem when it comes to bamboo flooring. Of course, any dusty flooring would not look nice. However, since bamboo is prone to scratches you need to be careful when cleaning as well. This is especially an issue when stains develop. You cannot scrub bamboo floors hard without scratching it. You'd have to use a special cleaning solution and a softer cloth to clean it. But then even if it takes extra effort, you will feel it's worth it every time you see your beautiful shiny bamboo floor.
