Top Tips For Cleaning Windows And Mirrors In Fulham
Published on Friday, 11 July 2014

Glass is a tricky thing to clean. Firstly because it always attracts dirt, no matter how regularly you clean it, and secondly because of the sheer nature of the surface any single particle of dirt will show up like a beacon. Think of the mirrors in the bathrooms in your home in Fulham – they are exposed to steam, soap, shower gel, toothpaste, make-up, face-cleaning products – absolutely anything you can think of that gets used in the bathroom will undoubtedly end up on the mirror.

And not only that. It’s irritating when the one surface that you want to keep clear and clean in order to keep yourself clean, gets misted up so that you can’t see properly. However it’s usually difficult not to, especially with a busy family. Sticky fingers or the weather can easily cause marks to form on glass in your home in Fulham, SW6. And with using a cloth to clean, it’s very difficult to achieve a sparkling look because of streaks and the way that the cloth sheds the lint.

Using the right tools is very important for achieving the finish that you want. Think chamois leather, microfiber cloth or squeegee – these are far better for leaving less residue. And with any glass surface that you look through, you do not want residue building up on the surface itself. Another top tip for cleaning windows and mirrors in the SW6 area is to use crumpled up newspaper. The ink does not transfer to the window itself so it’s a perfectly safe, cheap and easy way of bringing a shine to the most dull of glass surfaces.

Before you begin, collect all of the supplies that you will need. Amongst these should be: white vinegar, water, a spray bottle and/or a big bowl, newspaper and cotton swabs or a toothbrush. If you choose the last option then the toothbrush must be a soft one to prevent causing any damage. Before you begin to clean, lay towels on any windowsills, especially wooden ones. This will stop any water damage to the paintwork and absorb any dropped cleaning products. Then mix one part white vinegar with 4 parts of water so it is well diluted. After which you can spray the solution on the glass, or alternatively soak a cloth in it and squeeze it out well so that you don’t have any excess. If the area of glass that you are cleaning in the SW10 is big, then spray the solution directly on it.

Then consider the way that you scrub the glass. If you are removing marks or spots of dirt then move the cloth in a circular fashion, or use vertical strokes.  Once you are sure that you have loosened or removed the vast majority of the dirt, then you can use a horizontal motion to wipe the glass clean and shiny and mark free. For corners and edges pay attention to them with cotton buds or a toothbrush; this will enable you to get even the smallest of areas perfectly clean. Also works with crevices. Once you have cleaned then buff the surfaces using an old cotton t-shirt or newspaper. For very dirty glass in Fulham you should use a good cleaning product and a microfiber cloth. And always remember – with commercial cleaning products do remember that it cannot contain ammonia.
